Mexican heavy metal band R.A.I.C.E.S. was formed after El Chahuistle and Vice Bomb broke up in 1997. Its name is a shortcut for Resistencia a la Aniquilación de Indigenas, su Cultura, Educación, y Supervivencia (resistance to annihilation of indigenous culture and education). Guitarist Víctor Romo, singer Luis Orozpe, bassist Angel Orozpe, guitarist César Vidal, and drummer Hugo Cordero started playing under the name of Dekadencia. When Víctor Romo left the band and Alfredo Valle took his place, the group changed its name to Mictlán and later to R.A.I.C.E.S. After the band's first performances in Mexico City, an EP was recorded. In May of 1998, R.A.I.C.E.S. participated in a local rock contest known as Babel. In April of 2000, Hugo Cordero decided to leave the act. ~ Drago Bonacich, All Music Guide
