Manitoba Made Christmas Part One...

Since I stated that I will be only purchasing Christmas gifts made in Manitoba - the tips have been pouring in. Whenever possible, I'll post them here so hopefully they'll get a bit more business and awareness.

I met Chrissy Troy at last night's Winnipeg Girl's Night Out event and introduced her my handmade baby clothing and accessories company called Small Potatoes. She mentioned that you are looking for handmade Manitoba gifts for Christmas so I thought I should tell you about my company too, in case you are looking for something special for a li'l someone special this holiday season.

I make all kinds of goodies for babies and toddlers... bibs, burp cloths, cute little dresses for girls, pants and tshirt sets for boys, soother straps called "Binky Leashes", fun storytime blankies, round changing pads, and hair clips. And for new parents: baby slings, nursing covers, and diaper clutches - all in hip, modern, funky prints and patterns.

Good morning Ace,

I just heard from a friend that you are going for a "Manitoba Christmas", so I'm attaching a picture of my Basset Hound, Montgummery, modeling a made in Manitoba Hudson Bay sweater which I made.  I've made almost 200 sweaters for dogs in the last two years - can't get any more made in Manitoba than that.  One of my designs which has the Canadian flag can  now be seen in California, Florida, Alabama and even England.  

I also make dog cookies - and am making them in Christmas shapes i.e. Reindeer (sweet potato), Santa (Beef),  Angel (Chicken), Gingerbread (Peanut Butter) and Bears (Bacon Cheese). 

In the summer I'm out at St. Norbert Farmers Market but now that it's closed I do the craft sale thing.  If you're not doing anything this weekend (ha ha) then maybe you should drop over to Lower Fort Garry.  They are having a craft sale on Saturday from 10 to 4 and I'm sure you will find lots of made in Manitoba things that may be of interest to you.
