James Williams decided to celebrate his fiftieth birthday by making a series of duo recordings with some of his long time associates and fellow veterans, producing a four volume anthology that also proved to be his final releases prior to his unexpected death in 2004. This third volume, like the others, is full of memorable performances, including the superb take of "I Mean You" featuring Ron Carter, a dreamy "Dolphin Dance" with vibraphonist Steve Nelson and the lyrical duet of "Little B's Poem" with tenor saxophonist Bill Pierce (who is erroneously listed playing soprano sax). Read More
