This set is a tribute to the influential British trad cornetist Ken Colyer. The septet plays a variety of tunes that Colyer enjoyed, including "Sweet Fields," Tom Turpin's "Harlem Rag," "It Looks Like a Big Time Tonight," "Stockyards Strut," and "Blame It on the Blues," plus cornetist Tony Pringle's "One for the Guv'nor." Pringle's playing is more out of Kid Thomas Valentine and Bunk Johnson than Colyer, but gives a primitive air to the music that Colyer would have appreciated. Read More
